Streamlined Onboarding With Ramp & ChainSafe Gaming
As a part of the latest SDK update, the ChainSafe Gaming team recently integrated Ramp into web3.unity. With Ramp's help, we're making in-game transactions easier than ever by providing a link between traditional money (fiat) and cryptocurrency.
What is Ramp?
Ramp provides a powerful fiat-crypto toolkit to enable smooth user onboarding. In a gaming context, Ramp is a simple feature that allows players to trade between fiat and crypto without leaving their game.
Whether buying or selling crypto, Ramp sidesteps the usual complications of using exchanges, setting up wallets, etc. By integrating with Ramp, we make it possible to open up your game to non-crypto natives, allowing them to benefit from the advantages of onchain gaming.
How does it look?
As it's completely embedded, the Ramp integration allows players to stay immersed in the game world, with no more pauses in game-play to buy tokens on one website to use on another.
Features
Ramp has several features designed to help in-game transactions:
On-ramp: Lets players buy crypto with 'real' money directly in the game.
Off-ramp: Allows players to convert their crypto back into fiat.
On/off-ramp: Allows players to buy and sell crypto, offering a complete solution for in-game transactions.
As some projects will only want to facilitate purchases, others will want sales, and some will want to use both, we've provided all the necessary functionality to access all three of these core functionalities.
Getting started with Ramp
To use Ramp in your game, you first need an API key. This key connects your game securely to Ramp's services. For now, developers can get this key by registering their projects with Ramp. In the future, they will be able to acquire the API key directly from the ChainSafe Gaming dashboard.
Setup and configuration
To integrate Ramp into your game, you must incorporate web3.unity and configure it with your unique API key. You must also prepare your game for handling transactions, including setting up callbacks and event listeners to manage the flow of purchases and sales. Here's a guide:
